The people in Washington D. C. do not live in Alaska or the Artic regions. I have read what the native Alaskan indians have said about the changes in nature. They have animal instincts when it comes to seeing the signs in the changing patterns as in the migration of salmon, the plague of the salmon and other life, the thickness changes in ice walls that have taken place recently compared to many of their generations. Changes in plant life. They see things that the average person does not. Their culture and religion are deeply ingrained with one another. They see global warming and have been warning people, but Washington D.C. dismisses them as "uneducated" nonsense. Even Jesus mentioned to look at nature for the signs of the end of time. Read Matthew. I'm not saying it's the end of the world, but he did say that we should study nature to see what it is saying to us. There are many fools in the world who will never listen, but will perish.

Global warming should be taken very seriously. Wether you believe it's happening because of the use of fossil fuels or not, you can't deny that temperatures are increasing, spring is arriving earlier in cold regions, ice is melting, and a myriad of other ecological changes (i.e. coral die-offs due to temperature). The biggest problem is the areas of tundra in Siberia. If the ice melts over these areas (as it beginning to) and the ground thaws, there is a HUGE deposit of carbon from dead plant and animals there that will dissipate into the air and cause the warming rate to increase dramatically.
Personally, I do believe man has caused global warming through use of fossil fuels. The earth does has it's own temperature rythms, but the increase in temperature has occurred far too fast and coincides with our pollution of the planet. We're pumping more CO2 into the air as well as cutting down trees and polluting the ocean, so there's a decrease in plants on land and in the water that use CO2 and increase in production, which equals a continual spiral of more pollution and instability.
As for what it will do, the planet will survive, but life will become hard for people and politics will have to change. Major cities will be underwater (being most are on coasts) and many temperate regions like the US will become a dust-bowl. Deserts will spread, and the land that will be ideal to grow food (like Canada) may not have rich enough soil to provide for the rest of the world. As you can imagine, a huge power shift would occur as well. Now, this isn't all going to happen tomorrow, but we're well on our way there and what we do today will continue to have repurcussions into the future. The only way to start fixing things will be the willingness of people to embrace change and not only think of themselves.

Yes we should take globle warming sersiously because then if we don't the planet would be detroyed and we wouldn't here on this planet anymore. if we do take it seriously then we would be on the planet longer. A couple of things we should do to help save the planet is to use reasources that won't hurt the atmosphere. EX. use hydropower car, which is starting to be put to the works. and use veggie oil from deep friers that is used at resturants and fast food places for power which would work if you ajust your enigne and other car parts to work on it.

Oh sure, the freak rain in the northeast is just a strange coincidence.
Of course the record number of hurricanes and an earlier first-appearance dates are just an act of nature.
And obviously the freak temperatures are just something the government has set up to make us think it's global warming. Just blame it all on government corruption.

I would have to see the doctoral thesis on global warming first to take it seriously.
