Yeah most of them are. I am glad I am not brainwashed. The media is mostly to blame. Some a brainwashed into thinking America is good and everyone else is bad. Some are materialistic and only care about material possessions and good looks, yet they take the basic things they have for granted. All the racist Americans are brainwashed too, anyone who is racists has been brainwashed in some way.

First...the U.S. Population can be found here...for those posters above that are too lazy to look it up:
http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/us.html

Second...to answer the question:
Are Americans brainwashed? To that, I'd have to say -- Not All of Us.

In general...I'd say the only Americans that would be subject to brainwashing are those that too naive to know better and those who suffer from ignorance (whether forced or self-induced).

I believe that naiveness is the larger, and more widespread culprit in this country. Sure, there's blatant ignorance...but too many people are willing to believe what another person says without any proof or factual verification. This is why propaganda is so effective. Repeat a falsehood often enough, loud enough, and long enough, and eventually people will begin to believe it. (Both political parties, and all religions in this country are guilty of this.)

As for "...about what?" -- Anything that people feel they need to believe in and seek answers for.

I will say, however, that America is not the only country that suffers from widespread naivety. It's an issue common to all countries in the world and transcends gender, race, religion, politics, you name it. The only difference is that we are free to either accept it or change it.

OF COURSE! most north Americans are, whether they like it or not... I mean whatever they watch on TV ( I'm specifically talking about the news) it's all censured!!!! They watch what the government will let them watch, therefor what they are led to see and to believe!!!!

It's too bad to say, but yes there is a lot of brainwashing going on

I do...but not all of us and not about everything.

Just some things...

Like if you don't "support the mission" in Iraq, you're un-American

Like if you don't vote for Bush, you're not being a good Christian

Like if you're not a proud patiotic flag waver, you should be a suspect...

I'm a proud, honorably-discharged veteran. I can't believe how brainwashed the country is about this war. We got suckered into it, and now if you don't support it, you're un-American.

Nice propaganda job by the republicans...I've got to give them credit for that.

Absolutley. What about? Many things...religion, moral values, politics, what constitutes appropriate behavior, etc. But, the most important-intolerance.
