My spark plug wire has two seperate parts: 1. a red cord, and 2. two black L-shaped covers. At one end, I pulled the red cord off the black L-shaped piece, and I want to put it back together. Can I simply re-insert the red cord back into the black L-Shaped thingy? The red cord has what looks to be a black wire coming out of it. Should I just buy a new spark plug wire?

It seems like it should be an easy fix, since i pulled the insulating cord/wire out of the boot. When crimping the conducting wire to the brass, I'm most concerned with getting a good connection, yes?

The red cord is the wire insulation and the black thing coming out of it is the conductor. The black l shaped thing is the boot to cover the plug and you should have a brass piece that crimps around the wire and snaps on the spark-plug. If you do not have the mechanical expertise to re-crimp the brass to the wire or if that piece is missing, buy a new one. Most shops will make you one if you bring the old one with you.

Probably. You're not supposed to be able to pull the ends off. Those are there to cover and protect the contact that goes onto the plug. I wouldn't try to put it back together; go to a dealer to try and get just that wire. Most parts stores and aftermarket places only sell wire kits.

When in doubt replace the part but, most times you can't buy just one wire they come in sets,so try to put it back together it may or may not work.
