Sorry, but there's really no way to remove the scratches. I checked w/a local glass company and they said that the only thing to be done is to buy a new plate. I guess that's why "mint" depression glass is much more valuable than the pieces that our grandmothers used and handed down.

What is a depres. plate? Please more detail. Thank you. Oh you mean glass dishes! Well why didn't you say so? Take them to a glass maker, the kind who blows glass. Maybe they can be put into an annealing oven to get the scratches out. If it can be done, there will be a price. Check with a glass blower Bye, :)

They are called scores. If you are using them---no way to remove. If you are trying to sell them then put them in a large pot filled with whole milk and heat till almost boiling---remove and let set and check the results. Not going to work if you are putting in a dishwasher and using the dishes. If your plates are clear this is not a solution.
