It is not a virus - just a bad registry edit or file. Check this out:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=170086
And here is the solution:
http://ask-leo.com/whats_all_this_stuff_running_after_i_boot_windows.html
It might be possible that a virus did cause this - so be sure and run your virus scan in Safe Mode before and after you have made the changes.

Start
programs
accessories
system tools
sytem restore
pick a date a week or so before this problem happened and and make sure you do all your windows updates and a/v updates after its done, you will lose those, you may want to put anything you did in that time period on a floppy or something.

It might be spy ware. Try one of those spy ware programs like ad-aware or Windows defender. if you think it is a virus, and your scan has not caught it, see if your virus software needs to be updated

Click on start, run then type msconfig. Hit enter. Under the startup tab see if you see it. If you do, uncheck the box and reboot.
