Well - if someone feels that Soccer is better name for Football - they should be banned from Football and have their own Soccer tournaments. Then they should compare soccer ratings to WC football ratings and if they have al least Borderline IQ - make a right decision of what is the right name for the game...

On a scale of 1 to 10. I'd say that the scale would be broken. I absolutely hate when people call football, soccer.

The only reason people get irritated is some kind of pointless anti-American prejudice. The word "Soccer" is a truncation of "Association" (as in "Association Football") which came from Britain, not America. Who gives a sweet crap what people call it - just enjoy the game! (I'm English, not American, by the way.)

Most European teams call it soccer, the spanish call it futbol, and rarely do I hear someone say Football. What be irritated? if you get irritated by that, then you need help..its just a word. you do realized that football is english right? The meaning behind the words is the same, so what's the confliction? although we all speak different languages, we can all understand the universal language of futbol.

I believe that God gave everyone free will, so if people want to use the term 'soccer' then so be it.

Considering the yanks already have their own version of football, it is only right that they should come up with a term to distinguish it from American Football.
