Why did so many people find the film offensive, especially the guys? I bet if the movie was about two women then the men would have loved the movie! Why are people so easily offended by dumb things like these? Why are some guys afraid of liking things like chick flicks or movies like Brokeback mountain? Just because you like it does not make you gay. If you are offended by these things you are just immature.

No I am not gay. I asked this question because guys who are all "macho" because they get offended by these things are immature. I thought the movie was slow too but I am just focusing on the homsexual aspect of it. Some guys feel as if they see or touch a gay person they get infected.

Well I'm from Wyoming and I see why some of them are offended. They are cowboys and sheepherders, and they think that this movie is representing them all. And some of them I guess just arent mature enough for these types of things. I wasn't offended in the least, the movie was pretty good in my opinion. There are a few scenes I didnt care for but all in all it was ok. In fact I made my boyfriend watch it and hes a cowboy. Some of it was ok and other parts made him uneasy.

Well, I don't think you're immature just because you're offended by something -- people would be offended by explicit sex scenes involving a heterosexual couple, too. It really comes down to your own personal sensibilities. Some of us like seeing hot, naked action... others don't.
Also, as accepting and open-minded as our society likes to say it is, most heterosexuals still feel a little uncomfortable when directly confronted with homosexual behavior -- on a conscious level, we honestly believe there's nothing wrong with it, but on an instinctive level it feels wrong, because we are not homosexual and don't feel the way they do about the same sex. Brokeback Mountain was a great movie, but the scenes where there was no question what they're up to still made me a little uncomfortable, personally.

I never saw the movie (I plan to eventually, I just gotta get around to it), but everyone that I talked to said the same thing (even the guys). They said it was a really great love story and after a while you forgot that it was even two guys. You should probably just surround yourself with nicer and more accepting people.

That's heterosexual men for you. They think all gay men immediately want in their pants. (Look in the mirror guys...not happening.) Usually it's the men who have some deep seated curiosity about the whole gay thing that get all liquored up and go bashing anyone they think is gay. The straight men who are comfortable with their sexuality aren't threatened by gay men.

The problem with Brokeback Mountain is that they took the characters who are stereotypically strong, rugged, individualists and made them feminine. I just can't imagine this having happend in the real world of cattle rustling. I don't mind depictions of homosexual relationships - there everywhere in the world. This setting and the use of these traditionally masculine characters for this homosexual plot, was merely to create media hype and buzz - which it did quite $uccessfully.

Not all people have the same background as you have. We were all brought up in different ways. Some are very conservative and not as open minded as you are. We all are just different in our own ways, which it is how it is supposed to be. We each have our own opinion and point of view. Just imagine if we all are the same.

Because they aren't secure with their own sexuality!! And yes if it was about 2 women then men would've lined up to see it! It was an ok movie.

Because straight men fear homosexuality. My Nice said it was a pretty good movie aside from the 2 homo scenes. But I still refuse to watch it. It's just unnatural.
