Yes. When you get your cake, you take the top of it off at the reception so no-one eats it, then you put it in a box and freeze it until your 1st anniversary. It does'nt taste very good, but it is a 'ritual' that supposedly gives you good luck for all the years to come. So yes. It is safe to eat since it's been frozen, just eat a little tho b/c it does'nt taste too great :)

yes it is possible to eat a part saved from your wedding cake after a year but i guess its taste will be way to different from its original, i guess it wont be safe because a year in a freezer would still cause some changes on the cake's state of edibleness and of course even if it is frozen bacteria can still grow in it and might cause some changes

Yes it is true, I actually did this on Monday for my one year anniversary. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good either. It is perfectly safe if it's frozen. I would suggest not wrapping it in plastic wrap though, they recently reported that most plastic releases cancerous substances when frozen or heated in a microwave. Personally, I think it's an odd tradition and it would be better to have the person who made your wedding cake make a small version of it for your anniversary.

i don't think so....
when i got married an aunt told me that i should save a piece of cake for my first anniversary and then eat it to be lucky forever and keep loving each other like the first year, but i didn't do it, some times a piece of pie or cake after one week in the fridge tastes so bad, i guess a year will be too much

Yes, it is true, provided you freeze the part of the cake and keep it frozen until ready to eat it for your anniversary celebration. It is safe and quite good. No loss of flavor or taste occurs, or at least it didn't on my piece of wedding cake.

Yes you can, but you'll regret it. I imagine if you have a vacuum sealer and a freezer that will be uninterrupted for a year. I did it with my cake and of course had to take it out of the freezer occasionally to defrost and really didn't wrap it well. It was AWFUL! And it took up so much space in the freezer for a whole year. Believe me, enjoy it while it's still a good cake - don't waste the effort.

Perfectly safe. It is tradition: you're supposed to save the top tier from your cake and eat it on your anniversary for good luck throughout the rest of your marriage. And while it is safe, it is also fairly gross... don't plan on eating more than a bite or two!

If it was in the freezer, it is safe to eat. It's a tradition to save the top of the cake to eat on your first anniversary.

Its tradition to freeze the top layer.... but I am sure a piece would be fine as well... and eat it on your one year anniversary. Alot of people I know have done it. They say it doesn't taste the same, it's just the nostalgia of it and the day it represents. As long as it is frozen, its perfectly safe.
