I mean, why do women shop the most? And why always those useless things?

Men go shopping to look for SPECIFIC items. "I need this, this and this, we're going here and here."

Women go just to look. "Oh, let's go in here and see what they have.", regardless of whether or not they were looking for anything that store has or not.

I think it's due to a stereotype about men and women.

I personally HATE the mall ( I even had a button that said it), I dislike grocery shopping. Even if I'm shopping at a hardware store, discount store, vintage or antiques. I'm the type of mall shopper that goes in, does a quick look---if I see nothing, I'm outta there. Malls are even annoying and crowded....it's stifling.

Really, there's no point in hanging around a mall or store because something I like is not going to pop us right next to the ever ending PASTELS they have. And plus, they cater to small or petite women, not women with curves or meat on their bodies.

I know there are other women out there that can't stand shopping...I've met them...we've had conversations. We've had conversations on how much we dislike clothes shopping or shopping in general. We don't understand what the big deal is. It's more of chore to us than a hobby.
I know men, gay or straight, that love shopping more than I do.
Don't get me wrong, getting new stuff is great.
It's just not something I think about.
I think of bills.....buying groceries.....doing laundry....doing dishes......cleaning up.....maintaining the house and garden....getting 8 hours of sleep a night.....taking long, hot showers...soaking in a bubble bath...reading a book.....listening to music and/or singing...watching a movie with my boyfriend (home or movie theatre)....doing yoga with my boyfriend.....spending time with my boyfriend (being intimiate, having debates, conversations, cuddling, going out together)...being with my family....eating a good meal...
We all have different ways that we treat ourselves right and not all of them are quite the same.

The only reason I'd stay in a mall for hours is for their air conditioning cause this summer is crazy hot!!!

I am a woman and I hate to shop.I do not know why so many do.I would rather stay home and let my husband go shopping than to go myself.
I really can't answer the question without asking someone else and since I don't know anyone I guess I can't.

They get a kind of mental satisfaction from it. The same way men enjoy sports. But as stated in the other answers, it does not apply to everyone. Lots of women like to watch sports for example.
(I think they are just checking out the guys butts however)

I think it stems back to the old days when women spent their time gathering food for their family. Men were out hunting.
