In the Northeastern US, there is the underrated state of Vermont. As there aren't many people to get in the way, there are plenty of fine places to find yourself holding ands and canoodling (spelling) without fear of getting caught. Burlington has just enough of a downtown to make you know that there is a little city life, but find a nice place to have a drink while watching the sun set over Lake Champlain...and you'll be very happy.
Saratoga off season (when the ponies don't run) is also very cool...you can have a two for one bath at one of several historic locations. There is a lot of good food and excellent bed and breakfasts, plus you are less than 30 minutes to Lake George, a nice mellow romantic place...
If you like city life, try Boston or New York for obvious reasons. There is a lot to do in both and they are rather walkable...just be careful about being too much of a tourist...
Of course, people in Philly and Baltimore will argue that their cities are for romantics,a nd that may be true...eating a clambake with your hands is decadent, sensual fun...and imagine what you can do with the extra clarified butter....
BUT, the best romantic location in the Northeast is actually in Canada....Take thee and your special someone to Quebec City...as you are in a liitle piece of Frnace right here in North America...and look, the US dollar is still a relative bargan....gettig almost 20% more in Canadian money...not bad when you can go to the casino, etc...
That is one man's opinion...but I have taken differen women to each venue and have been satisfied...LOL

Probably the University Circle neighborhood in Cleveland, which is very cultural and beautiful. The Cleveland Museum of Art, spectacular Sevarance Hall, the Botanical Gardens, and other cultural institutions surround a pristine lagoon and park. If you saw some good pictures of it, you would probably think it was out of Paris or Vienna. Little Italy borders University Circle and there are really nice art galleries and restaurants there that really complete the evening. Glidden House in the heart of University Circle is a boutique hotel converted from an old mansion.

Niagra Falls (the Canada side) is very romantic, and it is especially beautiful if there is snow on the ground and everything is frozen.
Also, the Poconos in Pennsylvania offers a lot of romantic couples-only resorts, and some of them are even all-inclusive, which is really nice!

as a replace of searching for someplace stereotypically romantic.. why no longer locate someplace that has an significant which skill for both genuinely one of you? per chance someplace close to the position you first met? My boyfriend those days shocked me by taking me away to the motel the position we went to for our first romantic meal jointly.. purely have a imagine, i'm certain you'll imagine of something.

Newport RI- just a great old town. great beaches, great restaurants, and lots of things to do or not do. Think of a less pretentious version of Monterey/Carmel
