I posed a question not long ago about the way the USA has abused the Geneva Convention. Well today the Supreme Court said that the administration cannot act outside the Law. Thank God for America and the Supreme court. America has never lost a war by ignoring the Geneva Convention.

ThomasP.. You must understand Netjnr is one of these people that will insist black is white, night is day, irregardless of the facts. I despair on his behalf but I defend his right to be that way. After all we are democrats and we defend free speech at all costs.

I certainly agree. I doubt a constitution would work effectively in Britain *my home* but im glad to see Americas constitution is still keeping back the more radical tendancies of power. The Geneva convention should be so ingrained into every country in the world that its impossible to break, its such a shame the world wont work like that

Netjnr - The geneva conventions states that all prisoners involved in war are treated fairly with a proper military or civilian tribunal. Bush has given neither to the detainees at Gitmo. He breached the Convention by refusing fair trials to all the men, and not allowign Haebus Corpus

Yes, the Constitution works great. However, the terrorist are not abiding by the Geneva Convention AND NO ONE AROUND THE WORLD GIVES A DAMN!! Hurray for us, we fight fair.

Well, sir, while our soldiers are having their heads cut off because they cannot fight by the same no-rules that the terrorist use, I am not proud of the Supreme Court's decision.

By the way, the Geneva Conventions provides for the rules of engagement between two or more nations. Soldiers must be in uniform and terrorism and the killing of innocent victims is prohibited. DOES ANYONE AROUND THE WORLD GIVE A DAMN THAT THE TERRORISTS ARE VIOLATING EVERY PROVISION OF THE GC? NO, JUST AMERICA. YOU HATEFUL, UNGRATEFUL, JEALOUS HYPOCRITES.

Goody, goody for the US. We can all sleep well tonight feeling good about ourselves because we fight fair according to the Geneva Convention. God save us from our Liberal egos!!

I believe I answered your previous question and asked what violation of the geneva convention occured? I'd still ask that; the court ruled that the President lacked the authority to force military trials on the inmates of the war on terror; and they clearly stated that such an authority had to be granted by the congress. If the congress now acts the tribunals will be legal; and thus nothing from the geneva convention will be violated?

I believe the Constitution is a piece of paper, a writing of noble beginnings and an excellent beginning for the birth of a new nation. However, like all things, time tends to expand and renew the meanings of the words used in its draft. That is the purpose of amendments. The problem is there are many things that should be amendments that are not, and some things that are amendments that should not be. I believe it is time to update the constitution to reflect today's needs. Either that or place an amendment in the constitution that says we cannot amend the constitution. If that ever happens, we may as well use it for toilet paper.
