You need to file paperwork for Medicaid to pick up the bill. As long as the person has been established in the home for over a year, medicaid will LEAVE them where they are. IF not, chances are they will be moved to the cheapest facility available in the local area. All insurance policies must be cashed in. Funeral expenses must be pre-paid. You will lose the house, unless you can prove you live there and have done so for the last 10 years, whilst aiding your parents. Already gone through all of this. Good luck. You'll need it.

I am a nurse and I know that most residents in nursing homes are on medicare/medicaid which pays for their medical care. They do not throw them out of the nursing home once their money runs out. As a matter of fact most people use up all their personal resources then medicaid kicks in and pays for many things like hospice care etc. Hope this helps.

Most nursing homes will transfer patients who are out of money to what is called "title 19", which is medicare for lack of a better way to explain it. They may lose some "perks" they had before like special services & private rooms, but they definately do not get thrown out the door. (If that nursing home won't keep them, they arrange for another home to take them.) Lovely outlook for old age, huh?

once you run out of money and can't inner most pay the 3500 to 3400 a month, if , of,y in the experience that they settle for medicare and social safe practices will you stay there, you'd be shipped to a house that does. That domicile will take the finished ss examine with inspite of pittance, i do not comprehend they assist you to month-to-month. Medicare will pay your clinical desires, you'd be considered in straight forward words by the physician who works for the domicile and supposedly sees each individual and recognizes their desires and orders for that reason. the ability is short staffed and the nighttime shift CNA's are to blame for 0.5 the baths due on that day, it isn't a normal aspect. those the nighttime shift are to blame for will be awakened round 4 or 4:30 am to get it finished. you have not any determination, you'd be bathed and made waiting for the day at that hour! certainly, i'd truly walk onto the interstate than pass to a nursing domicile!
