It all depends on the state you are in. In Maryland, you have to be legally separated for 1 year unless there are underlying circumstances (i.e. spousal abuse or infidelity) Once the divorce has been applied for, the person petitioning has to appear before a judge with a witness and make the declarations. Once that is done, it is up to the judge how long he wants to wait to sign it. In my case, once the divorce was heard before the judge, it was 2 weeks before the divorce was final.

My uncontested divorce in New York state took approximately six weeks from the time I went to the lawyer and about 30 days of that was sitting at the court waiting for judges signature.

Good Luck. (I waited 4 years before I filed)

It depends on if it's contested too.If he were to contest the divorce it could take forever. It depends on if there are children and assets, etc. If not it will usually take abot 30 days, well that's Illinois law.

If neither of you are fighting for anything it should go fast. If there are disputes and all it could take longer. Mine took 4 yrs because he was being a a**. Good Luck.

Depends on the laws in your state. It also depends on if you have children or assets that you are disputing. In Michigan, if there are no children and no dispute on assets, its three months from the time you file.
