Okay, so call me the modern man.
I really think it is important for the woman to enjoy the sexual experience we are about to share together.
Those who answer "you shouldn't ask" have either never reached orgasm with a partner or are the lazy men who do not want to put forth the effort and have never helped a woman reach orgasm.
Keep not putting forth the effort and there will be more women for us who will once your lady leaves you.

who made you the expert..? You think you be some kinda big man or somethin.. My husband, bless his soul treated me right for many years and we both was faithful til the end and we didn't run around like a bunch of monkeys in heat.. I don't need to run around broadcasting to the whole town what is happing in my marriage bed.. You run around getting diseases and aborting your mistakes before a holy God and think you gonna get away with it.. Yo better think again.. You talk about past mates, I got no past mates and I was faithful to my husband for over 40 years of happy marriage..

A lot of it is upbringing, society, and religion. Some of it is just lack of communication. Women (and men) should feel comfortable enough with their partners to tell them what they like without being asked.

Because it's very deeply internal. To be asked is to try to put words to someting that is experienced sensually.
