Starcraft: Brood War, Command and Conquer: Generals, Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2, and Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II all have great online capabilities and have a lot of people still playing them.

real-time strategy ONLINE? I don't know any online.... But I know some offline strategy games.
Sudden Strike(I, II, and III): WWII strategy game. Really great. You'll need to buy or download it.
