It is my favorite book after Atlas Shrugged, and the movies are among my favorites, especially Return of the King. I have also read the Hobbit, Silmarillion, and have several other books on the Tolkien universe. The icing on my cake of Tolkien geekdom would probably be my tattoo of "meleth" (love) in Sindarin, an elvish language, on my chest.

Since you're asking this in the movies section I'm going to guess that you're referring to the film and not the book. In that case, my answer is a big, emphatic NO.
I'm a fan of the books, I've read all of them. Most of them more than once. The movie totally butchered the book. It left out all mention of a few major characters, replaced some key events with Arwen, changed some characters personalities beyond recognition, added pointless junk and created plot holes in an incredibly well constructed plot.

I started watching it but I just couldn't get into it. I think I'd like the books better and they've been on my 'must read' list for awhile...
