Here is something interesting to think about: When you look at the sky at night, it is black, with the stars and the moon forming points of light on that black background. So why is it that, during the day, the sky does not remain black with the sun acting as another point of light? Why does the daytime sky turn a bright blue and the stars disappear?
The first thing to recognize is that the sun is an extremely bright source of light -- much brighter than the moon. The second thing to recognize is that the atoms of nitrogen and oxygen in the atmosphere have an effect on the sunlight that passes through them.
There is a physical phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering that causes light to scatter when it passes through particles that have a diameter one-tenth that of the wavelength (color) of the light. Sunlight is made up of all different colors of light, but because of the elements in the atmosphere the color blue is scattered much more efficiently than the other colors.
So when you look at the sky on a clear day, you can see the sun as a bright disk. The blueness you see everywhere else is all of the atoms in the atmosphere scattering blue light toward you. (Because red light, yellow light, green light and the other colors aren't scattered nearly as well, you see the sky as blue.)
Grass is green because it is envious of trees which are much taller and don't get stepped on like grass does. Trees don't get mowed every week in the summertime and sprayed with Weed-be-gone.
Also, grass is green because it is filled with chlorophyll not chloroform that is a green pigment that reflects green light from the sun and absorbs the other colors. Yeah, right, if you believe that one, you're pretty green yourself.

Grass is green because it absorbs every other color in the spectrum except green. The green light is reflected off of the grass and into our eyes making it appear green. The sky is blue because the sun light comes through our atmosphere at such an angle that it only illuminates the hydrogen in the sky which turns blue. The sun comes at different angles in the morning and at night illuminating other elements such as oxygen and nitrogen and neon, that gives us the pretty colors in the sky during sunrise and sunset. I can't remember which elements make which color but I know oxygen makes the sky look pink.
I just wanted to add something here. Chlorophyll and photosynthesis are chemicals which give off no light therefore no color which means the grass can't be green due to those things. There is no color without light. Light contains all the colors. The color we see something to be is just the color that is not absorbed by whatever it is we're looking at. The sky is blue due to the same process the grass is green. Hydrogen absorbs every color except blue. That's why the sky is blue, it's not reflecting off the oceans and it has nothing to do with chemicals in the air. People on here are idiots for thinking they know stuff when really, they don't know sh*t.

Grass is green due to the pigment of the leaves, which is caused by the carbon dioxide that it obsorbs.
The Sky is blue because that is the fatherest you can see. The majority of the Earth is covered in Water, which reflects off the Earths atmosphere and thus allows us to see blue. However, if you get in a space ship, and look out the window, away from Earth it will be black, not blue. Looking into darkness one can see nothing but darkness unless there is light.

Grass is green because of the cloriphil, which helps the plants make their own food. The sky is blue because the water in the air scatters the white light around the sky in all the colors of the rainbow. Blue scatters the most, so that is what we see! Hope this helps! Take care.

The grass is green because of the magnesium ion at the centre of the porphyrin ring that is integral to the capacity of chlorophyll to uptake light energy and transfer it into a photosystem and generate a reducing equivalent in the form of ATP.
the sky is blue beacuse blue light segment of light has a shorter wave legnth and is thus refracted in the atmosphere earlier than other portions of visible light.
as for chlorophyll it is further interesting to note that iron could do the same function as magnesium. and thus if nature had so chosen, all leaves could be red instead of green.

Biologically, grass is green becuase it contains clorophyll.
Physically, the sky is blue because air particles reflect blue light. White light is composed of the entire visible spectrum (all the colors in a rainbow), and when the white light hits something, like air particles, certain frequencies of light are reflected. This is what gives things color. Grass is green becuase it reflects green light, and absorbs all other colors in the spectrum.
(That's the basic answer. It can get more complicated.)

The grass is green because of chlorophyll. The sky is blue because the sun hits a mist layer at exactly the right angle for you to see blue. The sun can also be other colors depending on the angle (red, yellow, orange..)

The grass is green beacause plants contain chlorophyll which reflects green light, the sky is blue because the sunlight is refracted by the atmospheres nitrogen/oxygen mix and appears blue. No more "because god said so ****".

the grass isgreen due to the photosynthesis stages and the chlorophyl in the blades of grass, the sky is blue because the sun reflecting off the water (oceans) into the sky and back and forth it is merely just a reflection

the grass is green due to presence of lots of chloroplasts which traps sunlight and gives the plant a green colour as it absorbs other colours.
The sky is blue because in the visible spectrum, the blue light has to travel more distance than other colours and is trapped by the molecules of air which make it look blue.
