I think its a great thing. That money will certainly save countless lives.

STACEY S: The good that money would do in america is nothing compared to the good it will do in africa and the third world. There is no famine in america, no real poverty, no civil wars. Billions of dollars donated to americans may make the lives of people more comfortable, maybe even save a few, but it would have nothing even close to the impact that money would have if it were donated to causes in the third world.

I salute them for their ideals and their undoubtedly generous gestures but...

You never know what will actually become of this. Even if the org is a success what were their ulterior motives? Was do they stand to gain from it? I am not claiming that it may be from a totally selfish standpoint but it’s interesting to think about.

I do salute the fact that both men, and Melinda Gates will be working with the org, whether or not they will be doing the rolling up their sleeves and getting dirty kind remains to be seen.

Bottom line for me is: Lets see what becomes of this. Money alone is not enough, it's a good start, but the effectiveness of the org depends on how they go about doing and promoting it.

It certainly is refreshing to find people who believe that with great wealth comes great responsibility. Not only do Gates and Buffet believe it, they are doing something amazing! I pray God's blessings on them and the good they will do with the money.

It is a great, great thing they did. I do salute them. However firedup is right about the tax breaks they'll get because of it. But regardless of how it does benefit them financially on a personal level it was an amazing thing to do.

Giving away that money to each other like they did probably gives them such a huge financial break, that they are probably richer now because of it. The tax cuts alone will over shadow any amount that they have donated.

I think this is a very good thing. Just imagine with all that money they might find a cure for cancer, AIDS, or maybe half the world will not go to bed hungry every night.

It Is generous. The thing I don't get is why they didn't donat to their own country when it's in the mess it is in now and there are so many in this country who are in dire need and have no one to help them.
