why is it that throughout american history black people have created a certain pop culture (music, style, fashion, lingo dance...etc..) in our society and were hated and banned at first for their creativity but when white people finally find out, they exploit it and try to copy and market it?
since the days of elvis (who, by the way stole his singing and dancing styles from poor, old black blues singers who created it and never got paid or respect)...and now elvis is considered the king of rock & roll.
now it's a hip hop world.
back in the 70's when hip hop started, white people were saying "turn off that disco". or that "ni**er" music...just like back in the 50's
now you get little white kids dressing, walking, dancing, and talking like so called "ni**ers.
....some even calling themselves "ni**a" but not knowing one single black person.....lol
twice i heard guys who were from europe say that
they wish they were born in the hood. lol
by the wayim not racist

I too have noticed some of the same things not only with white guys but with the white females. White guys are becoming very insecure in themselves, because every where you look now there are white women dating, marring and having black mens' babies, and the only thing they can think of to do is be more like what the whtie women want. They can't swallow the cold hearted truth that in 20 years the majority of the kids with be natually tan (interracial). The white man is trying to be more like the black men so they can try and get back what was once theirs. The only thing is "Once you have gone black you can't go back." Believe me I know!!

Dude, you bring up a really good point, not racist at all. Its too bad that some people are so shallow that they see what you are saying as being racist.
Your right, nobody wanted anything to do with blacks and the music that they created becasue at the time, there was not much money to be made in black music. Most blacks at the time were descriminated against and not taken seriously and not allowed into the big jobs where the money was.
All of the sudden, rich white people saw that they could make tons of money marketing black music so that is what they did.
It's all about money my man. We should just be thankful that people did take an interest in their music because it was one of the stepping stones to blacks being accepted in this country.
Man, everytime I write or talk about this I just can't believe how ignorant people were back then. The sad thing is that there are idiots out there today that think the same way. Unbelievable.

I consider the term racist to be just another of those divisive words used to separate and classify. Much as race, creed or sexual orientation are not to be noticed, yet we still use the classifications on applications and the like. A word is just a word, but context is the key. As for the other part of your question. Generations have not changed that much since the time of Plato. Kids have always been guided by the media of their times, it just so happens that the time in which we live is saturated with all kinds of information. The so called Urban movement, is just another in a long string of movements that has caught the fancy of the media, and other business interests. Believe me if they couldn't make a buck with it, they wouldn't be doing it.

It's a vicious cycle isn't it? I've heard the same things allot of what your saying here in the God truth. The other thing to think about is why would white people want to tan and get "gold" or brown, but really wouldn't want the problems that come along with being Afro-American. Very good question, take care

Interesting... blacks deserve credit for the things they've invented and created that whites stole from them. They don't teach you this in school, which is wrong. Why the hell would people wish to be born in the hood? It's not great... it sucks. I wish I was born into a rich family... hell, I wish I had a family.
There is alot more than hip hop that blacks invented- penicillin is one of them.

I'm a 77 yr. old white man,and was 'educated' on the streets of Detroit. I was weened on big bands of the 40's and all the great colored (black) combos i.e. louis Jordan, King Cole, Coleman Hawkins et.al. It seemed like the white people who wanted to be hip, emulated the blacks.
