Losing weight is the first step. Stop using caffeine. Lower salt intake. If this doesn't work a Doctor will prescribe Antenolol or another drug.

If you have mild High Blood Pressure, your doctor may suggest that you lose weight and keep it off, eat less salt, cut down on alcohol, and get MORE exercise. You may bring your blood pressure down simply by following this advice. Even if medicine is needed, these daily habits may help it work better. And you need to keep doing it whether your blood pressure goes down or not.

If you are ont on any BP medication then, try eating a banana every morning or whenever you feel that your pressure went up. Bananas help you bring your blood pressure down. Also, if you can handle drining lemon juice. You just need one freshly squeezed lemon and wait a minute or two after you drink it and that will bring it down (this works even better). And of course watching your salt intake is #1, exercising regularly will keep your body healthy. Severl people in my family have high BP and this has always worked for them.

If your overweight, it is recommended to drop the pounds. You can diet, and help yourself even further by walking at least 30 minutes a day. You'll see a definite change in your blood pressure and cholesterol levels as well.

Basic first steps is DIET and EXERCISE...if you eat a low sodium diet, it will be able to lower your BP.
SECOND...if diet and exercise failed, you might want to see your physician...if on 3 occaisions your BP is elevated...then you might need to take so called "water pills"
THIRD...a lot of people have increase BP due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea because they are obese and their epiglottis and neck anatomy is altered...you need to get a sleep study to be diagnosed with that...then you use something called CPAP.
FOURTH...if all of the above are negative, you need to get a further workup for other causes of high blood pressure - Kidneys, Heart, or Endocrine (thyroid problems can increase it)
Best way is to visit your physician.
