Countries have to bid to host the world cup - members of the various football associations around the world then vote for the country they think will provide the best world cup - often they vote for the country they have most affiliation with - I don't think Brasil have bid that often.

When Brazil hosted a World Cup, the tournament didn't attract anywhere near the huge numbers it does now, but with the huge popularity of football today, they simply would be abble to cope with the influx of supporters, and there are more teams in the World Cup finals now then there was back then, which also increases the number of fans at the tournament.

In fact, the last World Cup to be held in South America (Mexico '86) was originally going to be hosted by Colombia, but they had to withdraw due to financial reasons. Although Mexico didn't do a bad job hosting, the television coverage wasn't to good and help from technicians from other countries was eventually needed.

So Brazil simply don't have the resources to hold a World Cup in the modern era.

Hosting the WC takes other qualities as winning it. Also has to do with money and the prospects of hosting it in a particular country. Then there's the prejudice of FIFA as well. You have to remind that that's not a honest organization but more of dictatorship by Havelange and now Blatter. They and their puppets elect the host countries.

But there is hope: Brazil is the main candidate to host the 2014 World Cup.

I liek the fact that it goes around to different countries:)...brings in a lot of money for those countries and plus the people who actually go to the matches in the country have a great experience...like the next cup...south africa!...amazing...1st time its going to be there...now all we need is an african team to win...come on!!

It's called the WORLD Cup, not the Brazil Cup. So the tournament has to be held throughout the WORLD.

Because other countries will make more money off of it. European countries will draw more crowds since they are in Europe and most soccer/football leagues are in Europe. Also, more stores/restaurants/bars/etc. ==more money and in the end that is what it comes down to.
