Why is it that tall basketball players in the NBA usually turn out to be garbage and need loads of experience?

Well, when they get to the NBA, the centers are big and strong like Shaq. They need to put on more weight to get past the other centers. Just like a rookie, they need much experience. For example, Dwayne Wade had to train for 3 years to win a NBA Finals. Everyone needs training.

Height does not always equal skills; height is tried as a intimidation maneuver.

There have been tall players who were quite skilled on the court, but usually the much taller players are either too gangly or too thin to counter a slightly shorter, but stronger player.

being tall does not necessarily mean that you are good at basketball. sure, you have a big advantage, but you have nothing else. tall people also need experience because maybe they havent played with NBA players yet or they're not ready to play at that level of difficulty.

because the NBA is significantly better than any other league and most of the players do not play college for 4 years to gradually build up to that level. They just jump in and wing it

because they are tall they think they can just rule the court just like that and then meet up with veterans who have been playing since before their were born. a prime example was omeka okafor. everyone including himself thought he was going to be this big shot but he met up with real players and now he is a nobody.
