I think we are a more global community now, and our media reflects that. It's not like Superman wouldn't save someone in another country. Superman is not just America's hero, he is everyone's hero.

It was done more to stream line him back to the comics and the reality that if he was "really" around, he would definitely be more of an international asset for the side of "good" than just the American way. In the comics, he is just as likely to help out the Bushmen of Africa as he is someone in Nebraska, and the Bushmen are hardly following "The American Way". It only makes sense. Superman was a hero for planet Earth, not a hero for the United States of America.

On a side note, I think you have the wrong word in there - "ethically speaking"...no ethics are even involved in a debate on a slogan used for Superman. Not one ethic is even involved there. I think you're going more off of sentimentalism than ethics here. Just a note.

I do not think it was a great idea. However America is in the toilet for now. So removing it for now might be smart. As America seems to mean bully. And Superman is no bully.

yeah, maybe he doesnt see the american way as anything good.
The US has lost a lot of favour in the world since the comics began and even the release of the last films.
Its a big budget hollywood film they have no ethics or morals, its all about increasing marketability.
