If you are committing suicide because things are truly hopeless, it doesn't take real bravery -- you're looking forward to it because it is an end to your pain. To you, your best option IS suicide.

If people need to get their courage up in order to do the deed, then they still have hope (i.e., they're not sure dying is the best option).

In the end, I think it takes less courage to kill oneself and far more courage to face life, committing to an indefinite period of struggle and pain without any reassurance of success.

[Note: I'm not discussing cases of "self-sacrifice" for others -- I don't consider that action to be a suicide. Suicide is essentially dying to benefit the self in some way, usually to alleviate pain emotional pain.]

Not given a hopeless situation. There is no courage involved because if it is hopeless there is no choice. Now suicide when one is happy and at the top of their game takes tremendous courage.

If you have a problem with your girlfriend or boyfriend or parents, that can be resolved but not if you are dead. Some people commit suicide to "get back" at those who have hurt them. Ivanna Trump said it best when she said, "Living well is the best revenge!" Those who kill themselves will never know the harm they bring, not just to those who hurt them but those who love them and need them to stay in this world. Anyone contemplating suicide should seek the help of a licensed psychologist and tell them everything that lead up to being suicidal. There is a lot that can be done to make life better for anyone who feels hopeless. As long as there is life, there is hope.

Courage is TO FACE THE PROBLEM AND BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN MAKE IT TRHOUGH, TO SMILE TO LIFE AND SAY GOD I WILL BE ALLRIGHT AND I KNOW THINGS WILL BE BETTER IN A WHILE.
COURAGE IS LOVE

SUICIDE?? My friend we loose a member of a family in an accident and we cry and grieve for a long time.

Why to take life away?
I THINK THAT WEATHER CONDITIONS IN SEVERAL COUNTRIES, SCANDINAVIA, NORWAY, has the higher rate of suicide. Lack of human touch, sharing with people, lonelyness to the acre. Loosing faith, loosing courage for life, loosing hope, just not being close to God any more, drugs, alcohol all above could cause someone to do something so against human nature.

We are given the gift to love, to share, to smile, to laugh, to enjoy a nice meal with friends, to watch a nice film on the couch, to make jokes with coleagens, to see stars and smile. We are born to live life!!!!!!

My husband always says that those who commit suicide are the bravest. I think they're cowards cause they can't face their problems. What can be so hopeless that you feel you need to end your life and that there's no solution at all? You have a fatal illness?.....medicine is advancing greatly, what if the cure is found the day after you die? The mafia is after you?......go to Witness Protection Program and FOLLOW THEIR RULES!!!! There's always a solution to everything, wether we care to look for one and accept changes is another thing.

i think courage comes in facing the problem at hand. Suicide is a product of fear to face something. It takes courage to face the facts and deal with the problem.

I believe that attempting/committing suicide takes an awful lot of courage. Moreover, I believe that it takes a great deal more selfishness than courage.

Yes there is, because all the time you wonder: ¨Is this right, am I not stupid, shouldn´t I live?¨. Your body will betray you, turn against you and fight for life, while you have only your will to stand against it. And then comes the pain, those who choose non-suffering means of death have a great point, they really want to die, because those who choose drowning, or cutting their wrists, hanging, they all wish to stop at one point, to turn back and they keep on hoping. There will always be courage in saying in no to life, as there is in saying yes.
