Stucco comprises three ingredients: portland cement, sand, and water. The cement is the binder that adds hardness, strength, and durability to plaster.

Newer types of stucco contain a silicon base to prevent cracking.

NORMALLY A "PEA" GRAVEL AND CEMENT AND SAND MIX... ORGINIALLY FROM LIMESTONE WALLS, WHITE WASHED WITH A LIME PUTTY THAT WAS MIXED ENUFF FOR A MILKY WHITE WASH.

SO TAKE HALF CEMENT AND SAND AND MIX IN WASHED PEA GRAVEL TO TASTE!!!

If you are referring to historic buildings, they didn't have cement.
