I havent heard of anything supposed to happen to the earth. I dont think there is a real way they can predict that something is going to happen on a specific date and if they could than they probably should and would be doing everything and anything to prevent it. Take joy in knowing on July 3rd is the day before July 4th.

There will be an asteroid passing extremely close to the earth, but there is nothing that will actually happen to the earth as a result. In the grand scheme of things this is pretty close. You will not be able to see it with the naked eye or anything like that.

well i looked it up and this is what i got:
2006 - Asteroid labeled as 2004 XP14 will fly by Earth's atmosphere. It will be 1.1 times as far as the moons distance from Earth, thus being visible via moderate sized telescope.
