If technology would make it possible for us to settle on a planet similar to earth, light years away. Would you take the opportunity and why? Would the problems of earth be a distant memory..?

It is an absolute foregone conclusion that people from this planet will HAVE to settle on another planet in the future. There is no doubt about it. How long it will take for us to destroy Earth is up for question. The planet's resources are eventually going to run out as we do not use them economically or wisely. We plunder the oil etc without thought for what happens when it runs out. In our lifetimes we do not have to worry so much about having to go without but we can do something about it collectively. That seems an impossible task I know but there are ways. What we do have to worry about is how our descendants are going to cope with changing weather conditions and its effects upon the Earth besides diminishing resources. Think about this - when you take a sweet out of a bag does it run out? Yes - but someone will always fill it up again. When we take oil from under the ground what do we do when it runs out? Where do we get new soil from when it becomes worn out and no longer able to sustain our food growth? THINK AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT WE HAND DOWN TO OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN - PLEASE?

Yes I would most definitely settle on another planet. If you say it is similar to that of earth I do not see the problem.Of course we would have to be in suspended animation so as not to age. Also by that time we would have conquered all know deceases.Would we have to start from scratch or will we already have technoligy in place?Well I still would go if we had to start from scratch.I would soon forget my home planet because life on the new planet will be all I would care about.

It would be interesting. I think I might. I wonder if we would be wise to REMEMBER all of the troubles of our present planet, and do what we can to avoid them. Outlaw religion, maybe?

I'd do it. It wouldn't make the problems disappear, but it would be a great adventure!
