I notice long ago that yawn as well as other natural physiological reactions goes side by side with shifting of personality. Another personality emerges...I do not think that it triggers that, or switching personality initiate a yawning. All at once gives another picture. Chicken or the egg?-both at once.

A yawn gives your brain an extra supply of oxygen in order to ward off going mental wandering. This is why we frequently yawn when doing a boring task that we have to stay alert for.
As to why we can yawn just by thinking about it or seeing someone else, I believe it is because it is triggered by visual stimuli, whether you see it with your eyes, or "see" it in your mind.

Hmm, assuming you're talking about the bodily function of yawning, and you're wondering why people yawn, then I can tell you that it is due to a lack of oxygen to the brain. Yawns apparently take in a lot of oxygen, so it compensates for the oxygen that you're not getting enough of.

The yawn is an effort by your body to increase blood flow to the brain. This increased blood flow increases concentration and cognition during periods of tiredness and boredom.

you're not breathing deeply enough and your body lacks oxygen, so in order to get more you need to yawn to give your body enough oxygen.

Pretty sure I heard somewhere that:
it occurs because of a lack of oxygen to the brain and that apparently is the result

It's an involuntary reaction to increased carbon dioxide levels in the blood. It brings in high amounts of oxygen to the blood and expells high carbon dioxide amounts from the blood.
