A friend of mind hates Adam Sandler. He has a very clear reason why. He says he read it in a movie reveiw once. I'm looking to see if this is out there with other people and I haven't read it. Do you hate Sandler, and why?

Well, play, it seems that many of your answerers would rather say something trite about "hate" than actually answer the question.
First, then: hating hate is hateful. Its a coward's way of trying to dismiss an opposing point of view without ever understanding and engaging the underlying idea.
Second: three words, Saturday Night Live. If you totaled up all the really tasteless, stupid movies in the last 20 years, you would find that 90% of them came from SNL alumni. Adam Sandler falls into this category. There are exceptions, of course (Beverly Hills Cop {#1 only}, Wayne's World), but most of them are just garbage spewed out to act as cheap daycare for kids on weekends. Will Farrell, Chris Farley, David Spade ... the list goes on and on.
And perhaps your friend really hates them because what it says about movies: that all it really takes is marketing ("we'll feature this guy from SNL, everyone knows him"), so much so that the content and the quality of the writing with things such as plot, characterization, pacing and dialogue - the main components of movies prior to 1990 - become completely irrelevant. Can we market it? Can we have the McDonalds tie in? Its the star system going completely haywire because (contrary to what most of your answers seem to think) the sad fact is that most of these guys simply can't act. Yet they make movies.
The NBA would never put a bunch of midgets on the floor and say "this is a good basketball team". But this is what Hollywood does everytime they make an SNL movie. And most of the public doesn't even notice. I guess P.T. Barnum was right.

I love Adam Sandler!! A lot of people don't like him because his humor is too weird, too obnoxious, or just gross. It's a lot of SNL humor so I guess you would have to appreciate SNL to like him.

Tell your friend to stop watching his movies then. He is the greatest and you just have to be into the role he plays! If you don't like those kind of movies then don't watch them. But anyways, your friend is going to have a hard time finding more people that hate him then like him.
