Wow. This question is very controversial. Lots of people believe that life begins at conception. Some say life does not begin until birth. I do know that a "fetus" can feel pain, suck its thumb, etc. At that point I say it's a baby. In fact, I consider it a baby from conception. There are scientific aspects, and then personal and religious aspects.
What is your definition of human worth? Is an 8 year old child more worthy of living than a 37 year old person? How does one determine that? Each life is individual. I don't think you can put "worth" on a soul.
So, in my opinion a fetus IS human. It's not a "stage of development.
Have fun with your responses, as I am sure you will get many.
Oh, and thanks for kick starting my brain!!! :)

I say it's a person, If you don't do something to kill it, It is born and lives as a person.
Tiny little baby,
Living inside the womb.
Just when you are starting out,
Mom says "In my life I've got no room".
"A baby is a lot of work,
So what else can I do?
I'll just go to the doctor,
A few minutes and it's through."
A womb should be the safest place,
It was sanctioned from above.
Now it becomes a place of death,
By a surgeon, with knife and glove.
Now a poor confused mother,
Says "Oh what did I do?"
Always to remember the child she killed,
It'll haunt her all life through.
She might pretend it doesn't matter,
And just live life about.
But there will always be an ache in her,
A pain without a shout.
And if she has some children,
She'll count the years between.
She'll wonder if it looked like her,
And what the sex had been.
But she'll never know the laughter,
Trusting eyes staring back at her.
Instead of the cooing of a baby,
She hears the name -"murderer".
But really when it's said and done,
She's a victim too.
She had the whole world telling her,
It's the smartest thing to do.
Poor little mother,
Now she's crying in the night.
"My God, My God, Have mercy on me,
How can I make things right?"
Satan says, "God's through with you,"
That is his attack.
But, Our God is truly loving,
He will always take you back.

It's not a grapefruit. It's a human being. This is a horrible violence against women when they go against the nature of their own bodies and make-up and destroy the life in her womb. It is something which will affect her all of her life in ways she won't even understand.
The womb should be the safest place , it was sanctioned from above. But now it becomes a place of death from a surgeon with knife and Glove.
God Bless You for seeing through the lies

I'd like anyone who believe it isn't a child to look at pictures of the way the "fetus" looks before birth and tell me it doesn't look like a child. And then I would like you to look at all the many ways abortion can be done, and look at the pictures, and tell me would you suck the brains out of your newborn, or would you cut off the arms and legs and the rest of the body into little pieces. No I'm sorry but you wouldn't, unless it is a life or death situation abortion is very bad, if you are mature and responsible enough to spread your legs and have sex, you should be mature and responsible enough to have the child, and put it up for adoption if you need to. I think it is bull if someone can go and spread their legs but yet they can't take what can come from it, that is bull, that is just people not have morals, and that is what is wrong with our world today. If you were to ever kill a 1 day old baby, you would go to prison, so why is it any different to do it to a child that is supposed to be born and be able to be 1 day, 1 year, 10 years, that's not fair of anyone, God should be the only person to decide who's life should be taken. Another thing how can someone possible not realize that is a part of them, I mean until it is born that is a part of the mother, ask yourself, could you ever cut off your own arm?, if you answered no, then why would it be any different to cut something from inside of you...that's just wrong. I'm not aiming this towards you I'm aiming it towards any other asshole that thinks it should be prochoice....

Development /maturity almost the same thing speaking in words and making them into an actual phrase but they mean totally nothing to a human: a being/person/individual <---- this last word just does it for me!!!!
Why are we putting such emphasis on the "development" issue and none to the fact that a "fetus" as I was once is an Individual which has the ability to grow and will one day be a whole of a person is possible (by the grace of GOD) now I am christian and to believe in the word of GOD other then that I can go on telling you about this simple fact that like most of all of us who are writting once were "fetuses" in a womb of your Mother or Sergeant mother (now a days).....
Now where do we stand how can we progress when even now a days anyone of us can become sick and even if an illness attacks your body time will in this case "death" will come among us all "last time I checked I was still mortal"
Now this whole issue in development is a fire's one I must stop now before I get " Flagged"
Good Day for now!

optimistic expensive, in uncomplicated phrases passport or some paper makes individual someone. Btw, did fetuses inform you that they don't fill the discomfort till they 22 a million/2 weeks? or you only examine it in some smart pants medical mag? do only not ignore that scientists nevertheless do not understand even 0.5 of the reality about the universe and people... Now are we speaking personality lower back? Do you imagine animal at the same time as killed fill or do not fill the discomfort? Are they persons or living beings, or only such issues as timber or will be a twin of stones? Are you optimistic you're someone and fill something in any respect? sounds like you're an alien or a drone. And btw, you won't be able to extremely communicate the following on YA you could ask or answer and also you're finished interior of a week at the same time with your job. which does no longer extremely info something. no longer even truth.

Think about this.... when a woman is pregnant and she WANTS the child... She will call what is inside her a "baby". As in "I am going to have a baby".
In most cases, when a woman does NOT want the child and is planning to abort... she will call what is inside her a "fetus" or "embryo". Such as "Aborting a fetus". This term removes the "person" from the action making the action more tolerable.

Well, this almost sounds like one of those statements like "If gay people are allowed to marry, then people are going to start marrying their animals!" I think that the fetus is its own entity when it is able to survive outside of the mother. Until then it is merely a parasitic part of her body. You could also ask when do you consider life to have formed? Is it the billions of sperm in the testes of every man you see walking down the street? Or the eggs in a woman's ovaries? If you say it is the moment of conception, well science is able to duplicate that using non-sex cells. Is that life? Where does this end? :)

People see this issue different ways, basically Pro-Choice and Pro-Life. You either believe that it's not a person until birth occurs, or you believe it's a person from the moment it's conceived.
You believe what you want to believe and never try to force your beliefs on anyone else and everything will be fine...
Notice how I never indicated which one I believe.

Well... it's like saying that an egg is a chicken. It's not. Non-vegan vegetarians who are against killing chickens for food would still eat eggs.

Tell that to the family who has to choose between the mother and the unborn child as she enters a life-threating complication during delivery and see who they choose: the mother, whom they've known and loved their whole lives, or the baby that hasn't even entered the world yet.
