I don't follow soccer that closely, but I know a few things about DB:
1) David Beckham is probably the most recognizable player in the world.
2) He is great at free kicks (I watched the game vs. ECU)

But I think I heard that he's not considered a great player. He's basically good at one thing: free kicks. Is this true? What are his flaws in his game?

UH???
He is ONE OF THE BEST- has amazing footwork, speed, can pinpoint his long passes like a laser-beam, and the free kicks... fughedabuouit!
How can you ask a question like that?
Only people who don't consider him a great player either don't follow the sport, or hate Beckham personally (for whatever reason). There's no doubt about his abilities as a footballer.
There's a reason first Man U and then Real Madrid signed him, no? Because they want the best players on their teams (all teams do). If you choose a world 11, w/out Beckham, as I've said above, you don't kow anything about football.

I am a huge England fan as i am english lol. David Beckham is a great player. He is extremely gud at takin free kicks as he showed in th ecudor game. A great player isn't just made by their skills with the ball but by the way they wrk with the team and i think he is an extremely gud captain because he can organise and play with his team.

i think that he is not considered a great player because he is not one. He is famous and all that stuff, but that doesn't make him good in the field. Besides, i think that, well, he is good at free kicks but free kicks is not all what soccer is about. He is handsome and that makes (or made) him known, but beyond that, he has not many awesome things to offer to the world of soccer.

Because he is NOT a good player. He's only handsome and so much on TV's. By the way, Paraguay's goalkeeper scored 2 free kick goals in a match. So it's not hard to score free kick goals.

He is a world class player, though he is no Pele or maradona, or Ronaldinho for that matter. He does what counts, he puts the ball in the back of the net and he crosses like no other. His fame has gotten the better of him, and deemed him an icon not a great player.

His main flaw is being more a celebrity than a football player. He can play brilliantly, and not just on set pieces, but he tends to worry more about his hairstyle than the quality of his game...

He's a pro in set pieces and passing whether short or long. He's just the best midfielder in the world! Accuarte passing, shooting, and set pieces. What more do you want from a midfielder?
maybe he can work on his headers, but he's pretty darn good at his age as well .

Because in the sport he is only a pretty face and good looking dude. Sponsors use this good looking guys to promote their products regardless if he is a good player or not.
