redhotchilipeppers-I'm an idiot with a BA in English literature and a minor in philosophy. I graduated with honors. When you graduate high school, I hope you go to college too. Maybe they'll inspire you to think about such things as well?

We can't, I mean we probably could but everyone is not willing to change. Mainly because people are well justify for the belief to be racist or prejudice. God tells us "all the ways of men are right in their own eyes." When you think of it anyone can justify their belief in something true or not to cause them to do it. Racism will not end unless we all change, example if I say something mean about the white race would they get defensive and say something back about me or will they lash out at the whole black race. When this happen it will cause others to find a reason to lash out and thus cause separation and discriminating. As long as these groups don't agree on something then we will never get rid of racism.

Like this site all it takes is one word and some words from one group to spark racist thinking from people who are not even racist. Because one side stereotypes one side and vise versa. One side can say how bad one group is and the other group will do the same because everyone want to stand up for their race. Like any argument when we disagree their will always be someone who wants to be right, and neither side is willing to give up any ground. But as long as we disagree we will always continue this cycle of discrimination and racist thinking.

Only way we can stop it is for all to agree and learn and understand others feeling, right or wrong. Also to do something that both sides can agree on. Because whites and blacks disagree on almost all the above, racism, history, and everthing else. When you think of it if we all agree then their would be nothing to complain about.

Like slavery whites say blacks bring it up because they live in the past, untrue. They do it because whites down play it so much that blacks have to remind them. See if whites acknowlegde what happen then blacks counldn't complain, why complain about something if they already know it. This in it's self will stop a big chunck of racist thinking. All we have to do is find something to agree to. But what are the odds of that happening?

I don't think it will ever be completely removed. Some people will always hold a grudge against another race, for whatever stupid reason that may be. There will always be some racist redneck around that thinks badly about African Americans. There will always be a black person who thinks they're being held back by the white people. There will always be some aggression towards the Latino people that are here too. The list can keep going and it's sad. I wish some people would grow up and realize that we're all human, just with different color skin. I'm so proud of the group of friends that I have, because we have so many different cultures and we have bonded so well despite our different cultural backgrounds. I wish more people could be able to do the same.

In my opinion, it can eventually be removed by ceasing to treat it as an issue. There is so much "stuff" pumped into us and our children about "the issue" and so much "prevention" that it will never go away because it is continually brought to mind.
This isn't 50 years ago. Everyone got the message. Generations have come and gone since then. Everyone is NEVER going to like everyone else. That is preference, not racism. But give people a target to shoot at or a scapegoat to use and they will certainly learn how to use it.

But...continually tell people: "Don't put beans in your ears!" and guess what happens?

This is what is wrong with your approach, you don't know when to stop approaching and let it work.

Racist thinking in here to stay. It would be wonderful if there was a way to eliminate it but I don't see how that's possible.

Past attempts have failed because not only did they not solve the problem, they created more tension.

Perhaps if we (U.S.) eliminated the labeling (white, black, pacific islander, Hispanic etc.) and trying to fit everyone into a neat little category (which we do not fit) that would be the best way to begin to change racist views.

Racism is just like any other entitlement thinking. One group of people, whether grouped by race, age, sex, or whatever, will always feel in competition with the other. When you end the competition, you can end racist thinking. Unfortunately, competition in an innate human response, present since the beginning of time.

The best thing you can do is to not be racist yourself, and don't tolerate people in your presence who are racist.

1. Come up with a way to make America a society where everyone has the same skin tone and eye color. That way it will be very hard to eggagerate minor physical differences into irrational judgments.

2. Stamp out utopian thinking of all types in America -- there is no bottom, there is no minimal civilility, there is no tolerance among elitists.

i honestly think that this problem will not go away unfortunately it is a problem that deteriorates both the person and society and its sad. i have friends who are of different cultures and i did marry outside of my own race and i'm the happiest guy in the world. but for some strange reason and i don't know if its just me but it seems that the more we try and solve this issue the worse it becomes. people are people we are all the same the only thing different is the color of skin and different creeds.

The problem is we are human. That and the fact that certain racial groups decide to put their energy into being the victim instead of stamping out racism by taking heed in what humanity has been saying about their intellect, or what not, and taking productive action toward changing their negative qualities.

I think US and even the whole world will never be fully racist free. Its one of those things thats just impossible just because of human nature similiar to war and peace.

If we really wanted to remove racist thinking in the US then, we would have to isolate each of the races so they make no contact what so ever with each other. This would be highly unethical and impractical.

I see extra republicans whining about being observed as "racist" than i in my opinion see people calling them racist. The few cases I do see someone call a repub a racist, it really is continually because the repub suggested something about Obama and fried chicken, observed as him a monkey, or whines about how black people voted for him. i imagine the added apt time period to call repubs now's "sufferer", using the undeniable fact that's what alot of them are attempting to be.

It's not possible. All men (and women) have hearts of evil. There are those such as the white suppremists who cannot and will not change their views.
