If you have a hybrid rose or a tea rose and it is getting older, some of the branches may be "sporting", or returning to the original root stock. Hybrid roses are often produced by grafting one type of rose onto a strong root stock and that root stock may eventually start to reassert itself as the grafted, weaker rose ages. My mother had a wonderful yellow rose that suddenly began to sprout red roses on half the bush one year from its original root stock. It is now a totally red rose.

Yahzmin answer is correct... I know hybrid roses would do that at some point... My sister has a very beautiful apricot color rose that is a little bigger than the average rose. Last year, one branch started blooming red roses, way smaller than the apricot ones... the gardener advice her to cut that branch all the way down, eventually that branch would get stronger than the rest, dominate and "kill" -so to speak the rest of the plant... She did so, and now she got back her gorgeous apricot roses, full blast and lovely as usual. Cross-pollination would affect only the "daughter plants"... that means, plants started from seeds of a cross-pollinated rose... do you know what I mean?

well a good remedy for excellerating the growth of a rose and have some smaller roses is simple," coffee"..If you put coffee grounds in the ground the caffein will partially increse the growth to a tremendous state, and it will leave some roses smaller than others

What ever they happened to be cross pollinated with.

If you have "tea cup" roses near, or with in a mile or so, then the bees can get into that, and then cross polinate your roses and make them smaller, or, some of them.

(Its like when I was growing a Giant Alantic Pumpkin in my brother in laws yard, and he had squash near by, ALL his squash turned out orange...HE WAS MAAAAAAAAD LOL!!!

I didnt know, and neither did he, that the cross polination would do something like that :)

I wish you well..

I love that movie... ok, really I just have a crush on Laura Linney... but the movie was ok. What I liked about it is that you are left to make YOUR OWN decision about whether or not an excorcism was really performed or whether the girl was just mentally deranged.
