Hamster and Guinea Pigs are great pets.

Please check these sites if you are planning on getter either. Also, check your local shelter, there are LOTS of animals (including hamsters, and guinea pigs) that need good homes.
Check this site:
www.petfinder.com
Also, toy poodles and Maltese make great pets. They are hypoallergenic (in case you are allergic) and they don't shed! If you dont want to groom them a lot, then I would pick a toy poodle. Maltese have very long hair, but if you keep them cut short, its not a problem! The best dog, in my opinion, is a Maltese!

Things to know about guinea pigs and hamsters:
1) Syrian hamsters (the bigger ones commonly called teddy bears) are solitary and must be housed alone, otherwise it will fight to the death.
2) Dont use ceder or pine bedding for any animals, it will kill them.
3) For a hamster, an aquarium with a lid is the only cage that is 100% escape proof.
4) Guinea pigs are best housed in C&C cages.. go to the site listed above for more information on them.

If it i a small home, you probably have very little space. Pets like fish work out just fine. All you have to do if feed them twice a day, and clean their tanks once a week. The fish's don't make messes and they do provide some entertainment. Small pets work the best. It all depends on what kind of animals you like.

A guinea pig is great pet for a small house because it is relatively quiet, is contained in a small space, and does not try to escape- as apposed to another small pet like a hamster or mouse. Another plus to having a guinea pig is that they do not often bite. Hope this helps you. Take care

A guinea pig. They are easy to take care of. Fun to play with. They become your garbage can for all the fruits and veggies that you dont need or use (they love everything and eat everything). And they will sit and snuggle with you on your couch while you watch tv at night. They just love attention.

Most small animals are acceptable. Rats, hamsters, gerbil, even guinea pigs and hedgehogs.
The ones that might push the boundary, due to large cages are:
Ferrets, chinchillas, sugar gliders, some reptiles, birds and possibly rabbits.

A cat they are low maintaince, lovable, and cute. They eat when their hungry and can amuse themselves easily. They listen to you complain and will lay in your lap as you watch TV. They are very good pets. They don't need anyone to let them out to go to the bathroom. You don't have to clean their cage but you do have to clean the litter pan. You just leave them food and water and you can even go on a vacation and leave them home.

I think a cat would be a good choice, it doesn't need much care, it's not smelly and they can be sooooow cute! That it doesn't need much care of course doesn't mean you don't have give them any attention, they can be very fun to play with or just to have them sitting on your lap while your watching TV or working on your PC.

Probably a fish. they are easy to take care of. No cleaning up after them. They don't mind being left alone. Just be careful how much you feed them.

Probably a rodent - a rat, mouse, or hamster. Guinea pigs, ferrets, and chinchillas may do better with more room than you may have available.
