Pregnancy, does anyone know if follic acide for early pregnancy has any side effect?

can a person take it without doctor advise, if pregnant?

i am a ER doctor of 12 years, folic acid is great for you while you are pregnant. although taking more than you need ...say like 4 pills a day can be harmful...one a day is all you need! congrats to whomever!

You must have folic acid during pregnancy to avoid spinal Bifida. Ask the pharmacist what they think is a proper dose..please get prenatal care
