We use the word common because it is recognized by most everyone as what everyone really believes or accepts as reality and truth. What happens is that we have to learn to practice this which means thinking about what we do and say. Some people choose not to do this. Thus they make the mistakes and become more self-centered instead of staying centered with all humanity.

It was not common in the past. It has never been common. Common sense comes with age, just like wisdom. History is biased in the sense of common sense. All of the great leaders in the past has shown a lack of common sense through the time.

Because people with common sense have become so uncommon through the years & won't grow more common in the coming ones! ;-)

I think its coz pple spend too much time alone these days to b exposed to it. Look outside and see how we're being deprived of sidewalks.
Or it cud be that the majority generation is born to rich parents and end up not getting a complete education.

Because fools beget fools. They have children and raise them without any common sense. Vicious cycle.

Because society today is becoming more and more multicultural and diverse, therefore it becomes harder and harder to define "common sense" for everybody.
