I need to buy a PC (and laptop too). But I do not want any software installed on that PC, even the OS, since I have all the softwares I need. Is there anyplace I can buy like that? I mean, I need to buy hardwares, not softwares. Why do I need to pay more for the things I've already had?

I don't know where you are but here in Houston I go to independent computer stores, ones that are owned by computer geeks. I bought a 2 year old Dell refurbished by them for only 200.00. They completely erase the hard drives before they sell them and then put the OS on them if you want it when you buy it. So my suggestion would be an independent dealer. You will never find one at a retailer, becuase they get paid by the software companies to promote their software.

I dont think u can buy branded machines without software, however when u buy an unbranded machine (buyin several parts from different manufacturers of ur choice and puttin them together), try gettin everythin from the same shop, that way u can ask them to fix it up, but also make sure to tell them not to install any software..

Or u can ask them to fix everythin except the hard disk, which ofcourse to will have to fix ur self or get someone knowledgable to do so.. Note that in the above 2 ways they wont be able to check if everythin works as it should so u would have to test it ur self, just as u would in the next method.

The third and final way is, gettin the several parts (from one or several shops) and fixin them together ur self.. U have to be very carefull, specially with the Processor and its coolin fan. I recomend referin the mother board manual. (This is what I did.)

I'm not sure about laptops, but I think they come with at least the operating system.

currently there are NO options for buying a prebuilt system without an OS. Your best bet for the desktop is to buy a barebones system from http://www.newegg.com or http://www.tigerdirect.com . These packages take care of the components that are difficult to match up with each other, all thats left is hard drive and video card, sometimes ram is missing too depending on the package. All components plug in easily and for a mid-range to cutting edge computer, this method can save you 100-600 dollars.

On-line retailers will be your best bet in this instance. Try TigerDirect, CDW, and Dell. Just remember though, if you already have hardware with the software installed, you will have to delete it from your old boxes before installing to your new ones.

Most independants can sell you a PC with no os. Big brand stuff has deals with MS so you cannot get them without an os.

you can buy just 'the hardware' in any computer store i know. talk to the salesperson about that. generally all computers come without software. some discount options thou might have os installed already so i guess you shouldn't buy comp with low prices or try talking to salesperson about options without os installed.

if you plan on a mass produced one you dont have a choice and in fact it would be cheaper you can always sell the OS keycode as long as you dont register the one that came with the PC

Check out your local independent computer dealer if you want custom or prebuilt machine. Better machine without the preinstalled crap of the computer in a box retailers.
