We do not want each others names, but maybe a two-word phrase, I get one word, he gets the other? Anybody with ideas or pics would be great!

i think it's a bad idea, honestly. i would wear no ring before i did that. people can see your hands all the time ... a tattoo ... even as a wedding band, probably won't be construed that way by the general public. and for jobs - professional companies don't like visible tattoos ... hand is about as visible as you can get. if you have to do it, i would just get something very simple, no words, just a band ... the circle is what's important ... it symbolizes the neverending bond you have.

One Love

I have my wife's name as a wedding band. I must say it had saved my but when I lost my actual rig while working ( I am a firefighter). She said she would have been unbelievably PO as compared to a lil hurt had it not been for my for sight. I knew the risk of the ring being lost was great with my job, so I got the tat a month after we were wed. I am often complemented on my show of commitment having my wife's name tattooed as a wedding bad. Warning for some stupid reason it has drawn a hand full of unwanted or should I say no longer needed attention from women both single and married.

My best advice is to use Henna tattoos. They are not permanent. I know that you love each other very much right now and you are sure that it is going to last forever...so does everyone when they get married. You might not want to think about this, but the divorce rate is very high. I was married for 22 years before I got a divorce. I thought it was going to be forever. I am sure glad that I am not stuck with a tattoo commemorating that disaster! Things can change drastically, with time. Get henna tattoos, and then some nice rings, or maybe a pendant with a two-word saying. But I would not advise permanent tattoos for a wedding ring.

Get a symbol for something that even if things don't work out, that you can apply it to the rest of your life. Infinity is a good symbol.
Personally, I think it's a bad idea to do that, but its your body.

Tattoos on your fingers don't always hold very well. They usually fade quite easily. If you really want them, and you have concidered all the pros and cons of getting a tattoo in such an obvious place, then you should find a word/phrase that means something to the two of you. I liked the other person's idea of "for" and "ever". You'd have to explain it all the time, but you'd hear, "Awe, that is so sweet." Anyway, find a good, reputable tattoo artist. No one "new", it isn't the easiest body part to tattoo on. If you live anywhere near southern Indiana, I'd be glad to do it for you. (I own a tattoo studio)

If you really want to do it... I think celtic bands would be cool. My husband is a tattoo artist and the celtic bands are the nicest ones I've seen so far and it looks good on both women and men. Here's an example..not a great picture but just for your imagination.

I got a suggestion if you want something like that your best bet would be to get 2 pictures something that represents your significant other but get it a way you like that no matter what happens you would like it anyway and not regret it later

I agree that for some less committed people, this may be a bad idea, but honestly I love the idea. (Then again I have 4 rather large tattooes myself, and more to come.) More decorative designs like wreaths, vines, etc are more visually appealing, but hey, this is your thing. As for those who are worried about people seeing it and thinking it unprofessional or becoming blurred and faded as you age, forget them, you know what it is and it means everything to you, besides you can always throw some other real ring on your finger to cover it if necessary (ie. work, family, fancy get togethers or just not wanting to hear people's comments).
