Since it appears you are going to Dallas, you will probably pass through Abilene. There is a interactive museum there called Frontier Texas that is very neat, and very informative. We would be glad to have you in our town.

It depends on what area of Texas. North Texas (Dallas area) has plenty of shopping and places to eat. Austin has the bats under the bridge (sorry I can't be more specific, however everyone will know what you're talking about) which are amazing to watch at night. It also the state's capital and is known for being a weird city; the Real World was filmed there. Check out Lake Travis. San Antonio has the Alamo and the must see River Walk. Houston is great - wonderful city atmosphere. There's the zoo and Rice University and the winner's shop of Project Runway Season 2 is located in Houston. Galveston has a few historic places, a wharf, and the second part of Schlitterbahn (waterpark).

Go to Canyon Lake. Rent a boat for a day, or go scuba diving there. It is a beautiful...perfectly clear lake. Lake Travis is cool too. If you get to that area, you could also float the Guadalupe. It's chilli, but balls of fun! Come check it out! If you want to stay in Canyon Lake you should look into getting a cabin at Riverside. They are close to the lake and the river and are newly renovated cabins. Very child friendly and a very positive atmosphere. Just be sure to call first b/c around this time you might only be able to get a motel room! Texans love to visit these parts!
