lap-swim and streatching allowed ONLY in the pool.

outside the pool, i'm ordered to wear a brace and "avoid uncessary use".

haven't played ANYTHING for a month & a half. instead, been watching friends play - parasail, wind surf, tennis, etc.

I don't know how keen you are to try yoga- but it has played a huge part in my knee injury recovery. Try Iyengar Yoga, or Phoenix rising yoga therapy.

water offers the least resistance along with the buoyancy to keep most of the weight off. Knees can be tricky but go slow, another excercise is laying on your back and bicycling. You really must keep as much weight off until YOU feel comfortable putting more stress on the joint. Believe me, I know, have had knee problems throughout sporting life. Hang in there.

funny you mention it....

I had knee reconstruction ("new" ACL and cartlidge from a cadaver) one month ago. No more brace... I still use one crutch for support while I strengthen my leg. Doing therapy 3 times a week. F*CKING BORED. Not very mobile. Wife takes good care of me.

Good luck. Hang in there - it gets better. Just be sure to do your exercises -- A LOT!

Just got to fight through it. Swim a lot. Got to get back in shape after long periods of non-usage. I babied my knee for too long after I had surgery and got totally out of shape.
