nithiii, you need to watch yourself in talking about American's and Soccer. In the USA, soccer isn't the most popular sport because we have many other sports that share time with it. In other parts of the world, the other sports that are big in USA, aren't as big there (baseball, basketball, etc) If soccer were the only major US sport, it would be huge here like in other parts of the world.
I think the original question of why is soccer pointless is a stupid question. As an American and a soccer coach and referee, I think the sport of soccer is highly entertaining and enjoyable. Its one of the few sports that you know exactly when its going to end or at least close. Its also one that can end in a draw and still be enjoyable.

soccer is not pointless. It is an international sport that doesnt take much work playin. It is more fun than basketball and baseball etc. Soccer is just a simple and easy sport, all you need is a ball and you feet. Some countries have no investment in such sports so soccer is an option around the world.

I think you find yourself in the minority here. But, I guess you are probably right football is pointless in the same way that all sports are pointless, as is art, literature, great cuisine, music, dancing. But these are also the things that make life worth living, don't you think? If your real point is that you don't like football then why didn't you ask 'Who here hates soccer?'.

The only thing that is pointless is your question (and your opinions) -- you come across as a complete moron, and not only in terms of sports: Europe is wonderful; you should go there and see what you are missing.
On second thought, no, don't go: you'd find very few uncultured slobs there, and hence not feel at home.

I think you are the one who is pointless. Soccer is a wonderful game and those who dont enjoy it are idoits. And yeas you are one. Lemme guess you are american and you think Baseball or Basketball is the best game in the world(I have nothing against the americans).

Golf...its SO uninteresting all you are doing is hitting a tiny ball right into a gap! Also cheerleading this is a satisfactory amusing game however I do not feel there must be championships and tournaments on ESPN. Its a whole waste of TV area.

compare to baseball, golf, and american football [those players with too much cloths on...why?...doesnt make sense...] Soccer is way better game than any other sports in the world, that's why it's rated number 1
