First thing I would suggest is a good tune up, change the oil, plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, check the tiiming, etc. Also changing the fuel filter would not hurt. If that does not help maybe try the throttle position sensor...

FIRST check for Vacuum Leaks-like a collapsed Vacuum hose or a split one-maybe one going to the map sensor-THEN make sure the THERMOSTAT is at least a 195 Degree one-Make sure it's not stuck open or been removed..IF its a injector problem try running some Justice Brothers Fuel Injector Cleaner through the fuel tank or Dealership Injector cleaner-JUST make sure the cleaner comes in a metal can because the other stuff in plastic containers is not strong enough to do diddley.EVEN a VERY Dirty Air Filter can do it.(its a place to start)

I'd venture to guess that this is a timing issue, or an overactive pump, maybe the TPS (throttle position sensor). maybe take truck to garage and see if your truck displays any codes. Got an engine warning light on?

replace the o2 sensor and see if it goes away. you need a special wrench. they sell this stuff at autoparts stores called seafoam i think. a white metal can. you dump half a can in the brake boster vacuum while its running and it stalls or shut it off, wait five minutes and restart it. it will blow black smoke for 5 or so minutes. that will clean out you engines carbon build up.
