Me personally, I would just get a good Dell. But, if forced to choose between those two, I would probably go with the VAIO for basic use, nothing realy major.

Well the Thinkpad X60 is much better in quality but the Sony is way more attractive so you are going have to decide on that. But if you really want both quality and attractiveness then go for the Apple Macbook, its economical and runs Windows XP.

I own a Sony VAIO S560 and love it! I use it for both work and play. It's very light (4.4 lbs) which makes it extremely portable and not to mention it is very reliable and stable machine. The TX is even smaller and lighter which if you are looking for portability that is a plus and it is a very slick looking notebook. It really is all about personal prefrence. The best advice is to look at what you want to do with the laptop and compare features to see which fills your needs.

Well, it depends. If you want to enjoy music and entertainment at its most then VAIO and , as it earned its reputation on that. Vaio is also good with its support and updates as well.
Lenovo on the Other hand was built for business and protection in mind rather than entertainment. I can surely say it will have great battery life and rock solid body with more recovery options than needed and designed for portability.

I guess the million dollar question is.....What do you need it for??? If you are looking for multimedia and entertainment than go for the Sony VAIO - it's built for that. Where as the Lenovo is more for work and casual computing.
But if you also play games - than go for the Dell XPS - it's to die for.....

You cannot compare computers by just their names. In most cases, it is possible to choose the specifications of the computer. You should look at the specifications (e.g. main processor type and speed, amount of Memory/RAM, hard disk drive space, size and quality of the screen, CD drive capabilities, software that is bundled with the computer, networkability, how heavy the computer is, etc.) for the specific computers you are thinking of buying and compare them. If one computer has the same specifications as another but is more expensive, it is probably less value for money. Expensive won't necessarily mean better, but cheap normally means outmoded technology being offered as a bargain. Compare the specifications.

Thinkpad is easier to use, but wayyyy uglier. Take your pick. Personally, I would go with something entirely different, like my Dell or my friend has a nice Gateway. Good Luck
