Last night Memphis and Houston had a proposed deal: Houston would recieve Shane Battier and Memphis would recieve the rights to the 8th pick (Rudy Gay). I was wondering if it went through yet.

Yes. Memphis received 8th overall pick Rudy Gay and veteran power forward Stromile Swift from Houston for veteran small forward Shane Battier

For all intensive purpose, it's done, but, legally it can't happen until mid July because of Battier's contract. His contract resets on July 1. They will work the numbers, issues, etc for a week or so, and, then expect the deal to be completed at that time. If you are a Rockets fan, it's a good deal, but, you should pray that by the time the dust clears , Stromile Swift goes back to Memphis, with Gay and the point guard Lowry comes to Houston with Battier. I can see it happening. I think that Lowry and Foye are the steals of the draft.

it wont go through until july 12. it shows you that houston wants to win now. believe it or not, it will take some time to develop rudy gay. i believe hes only 19. not that matters, but battier gives houston someone at the 4 or 5 who can shoot from the perimeter and play some defense. juwan howard is on the decline, stro was not working out, so they went and got an established player. i like the deal. i didnt hear about rox getting lowry though. novak is also a 6'10" 3pt threat who is very intelligent and will be an excellent bench player. it may sound bad according to espn and stephen a smith but look out for the rockets once the season starts!

Completely lopsided i dont know what Houston was thinking.
