We're in Florida - obviously farther away from DC than Louisiana, etc. are. So if/when we get hit with another big hurricane and we are left with nothing, do you think the Prez might come to our aid within 3, 4 or 5 months maybe? I would die of heat stroke before that ..... but that's ok - no big deal. Honestly, do you think also that if the Hurrican would have hit ...like the DC area and do all that damage, would they have received help faster? Or people in LA or Hollywood? They would have been taken care of quickly. What is your opinion?

You could say "move" but we haven't been hit head on too often.

I have lived in Florida for more that 40 years. There a couple of things I have learned in that time

1 Don't count on anyone but yourself!!
2 Be prepared, Totally for a 10 day survival skills test!!
3 Keep a gun for all kinds of critters!!
4 If they tell you to leave, LEAVE!!
5 You don't have to go far just out of the path
6Stay off the main roads
Most important HAVE A PLAN!!!
We have a three page list of things you need. I should turn it in to a book and sell it to the state to hand out[ some people are so dumb]
4 Most important things to have on hand
WATER
Large propane generator
5 gal bucket, garbage bags, cat litter [your plumbing WILL fail!!]
Canned food

If you live in Florida, you will be fine. Jeb Bush takes care of his residents, unlike the Louisana Governor and Ray Nagin. They are the ones who should have gained the means to get those people out of there when the evacuations were issued. They found the transportation to get those in the 8th Ward to the voting booths; so, was that more important to get their vote or to save them!

In order for a State of Emergency to be issued, where troops and FEMA are sent out, the good ole law takes effect. The mayor of the city must declare assistance to the GOVERNOR, who then declares assistance from the PRESIDENT. No declaration was made for days. That is on public record... so, it isn't necessarily just Bush's fault.

We will never hear the truth on what those 2 people did on the day Katrina hit. I have heard that they both took necessary precaution for themselves and didn't return to the city for 3 days. mmmm...

God Bless you and you all will be ok!
