How do these colleges rank with other colleges in the United States?

I need to know for a project for my Military father who wants to know. He wants me to find this out so I can see what are the best Colleges/Universities that I can attend with instate tuition.

Ignore college rankings. Businesses that hire you later on won't care where U of ILL stands or stood in the rankings, all they care about is that you have the correct degree from an accredited university. HR departments don't care if you got our degree from Illionis U or from Podunk U. Only two fields care much about where your degree is from, and those are law and medical.

Ignore what the first poster said. If you can get a degree from a top university lots of doors will be opened for you. The University of Chicago is the best university in Illinois -- and one of the best in the United States. Northwestern is another nationally ranked school in Illinois -- and close in stature to Chicago. If you go to either of these schools, people will view your degree as equivalent to one from Harvard, Duke or Stanford.
The third best school in the state is University of Illinois. It is an excellent state school.
After those three, I'd consider going out of state.
There are lots of places you can get college rankings on-line -- including at US News & World Report.
