The VIN may tell you what engine and transmission are installed, but for the rest of the options, you'll need a manufacturer's build sheet. I don't know of any direct Internet sources to find a build sheet, but you could try contacting the manufacturer.
As far as a moon roof goes... It's not too hard to tell if the car has one. It's that big hole in the top of the car. All you have to do is look for it.

VIN will tell you the car manufacturer, the assembly plant, body style, year, etc.. it will not tell you these options. The VIN plates were moved from the door jamb area and other areas, to the windshield area just above the driver starting in the 1969 model year. This was done so that in the case of an accident, police could find these numbers and run them down as quickly as possible. In car accidents, sometimes the care doors get jambed, the VIN plates would get smashed, etc. Now on to the real answer. VINs IS NOT where to look to find all the rest, paint schemes, interior coded, moon roofs and such. What you need to look for is the DATA PLATE! Okay, some VINs state engine codes and a few other things, but you definitely want the DATA PLATE.

The Data plate is in the engine compartment. It will be on the fender well or the fire wall. Find that plate. It will have the VIN # plus a lot of other #'s on it. The moon roof code will be a letter M and a # like M52 on the fender tag. Hope this helps!!! Let me know if you find it. I can decode the tag for you.

Take the vin to a dealer(parts), they will run a build sheet for you. It will take the parts guy about 30 seconds to print the sheet for you.
