The significance of that question not only lies within the boundaries of the United States, but in all countries.
It seems that people of any political persuasion deem it necessary to oppose any idea that other parties implement or come up with, even if they themselves were thinking it before hand.
There are good Liberals and bad Liberals just as there are good Conservatives and bad ones. The general populous can state an opinion and for the most part debate it on a level field with usual successful results, it's just that in order to totally screw things up, those debating have "politician" attached to their title.
We all as humans, seem to believe that we are always right while the other person is usually wrong, and therefore give little heed to what others deem important. Human nature not only makes us ignorant to things being said around us, it also gives us the "pride" of never accepting responsibility for our actions.
The old saying of equal representation gives all people the rights to speak and be heard...it just doesn't give us the right to have our opinions accepted.

That's a tough request for several reasons. Admitting that both views are equal is like saying that a right for abortions is equal to the right to life. If they are believed to be truly equal then how can we decide which to follow. Those two beliefs are mutually exclusive and can't be done together. Most people have strong beliefs on these types of issues and the politicians are just taking the stance that they believe more people will vote for. I think most politicians see their main job as getting re-elected and they will often flip-flop their views by what the majority of voters wants. But.....isn't this also what politics is about... trying to pass laws according to what the majority of the people want?

Its slightly oversimplified--yet essentlially terrific suited. immediately, even though, we've a quite different project. the overpowering majority of people (style of ninety%) are unfold all accross the political spectrum--some liberal, some conservative--and the main important selection greater or much less interior the middle, commonly with a minimum of a few perspectives from the two facets of the political spectrum. Plus, of direction, the inevitable band of radicals of the two form putting onto the fringes. even though, the "conservative" end is likewise inhabited (consistent with threat "contaminated" is a etter be conscious) via the so-referred to as "neoconservatives/non secular good." those all and sundry is superficially "conservative" yet do no longer proportion the values--appreciate for the form, guy or woman liberty, and so on--that are many times shared via all and sundry else, conservative or liberal. Conservatives and liberals have continually balanced one yet another in united statesa.--and the two aare greater appropriate for it--as is united statesa.. The "neoconservatives' do no longer artwork with, co-perform, or in any different case proportion in that political provide and take--they only take. they have no actual section interior the yank society--and except and till they learn thtthey are no longer entitled to have their very own way on the price of something f us--they deserve no place in American society or political existence.

Because people are becoming so bogged down in the political party wars, Liberal v. Conservative, Left v. Right, Red v. Blue, that they're almost not working for the better of their country anymore, but for the better of their party.

I will. The nation is best when balance is achieved. I get angry as all hell at conservatives, but as long as the debate is kept on a level above name-calling, I'll take part in debate. I like debate and I like to disagree with people who can intelligently argue their cause and back it with evidence.
That's not so easy these days.

The trouble is, conservatives know liberals are stupid, and liberals believe conservatives are evil. Not much room for agreement or compromise.

Everyone's opinion is as important as anyone else's. It's just that half of them are dead wrong, that's all.
