There are about 11,000 campsites all over France...Take your pick...
You don't say when you are going...if it is during the summer season, you'll have a bit more trouble finding free space...The french are generally on holiday in August, and quite a lot of families go camping. After september 1st it's a lot easier... and sept. is a good month for camping, as the weather is still great.
go to the the following website (it has an english version:click on the little british flag at the top left hand side). In summer you'll probably have to make a reservation at most campsites
Normandie is lovely in the summer, and the Loire Valley with all the chateaux to visit...But actually all of Frances countryside is magnificent...So take your pick!
Click on the region you want to visit, and see what is at your disposal...

They are all over the place, are you taking your own tent/caravan?
If not I would recommend trying Keycamp, Eurocamp or French Life.
Any of the YELLOH! sites are good.
