It depends. I'd have to compare the offerings of the telemarketing job with the job I have now. Do both of them provide health insurance coverate? Do the both offer the kind of job security I'm looking for. How about promotional or advancement opportunties? Sometimes a higher monthly pay may not be the most lucrative of the two jobs, because the lesser paying 'might' offer benefits that have to be factored in also. If you work from home, does that mean you absorb the cost of a higher phone bill? Are there other costs related to the job that you're expected to pay for? Do any of these add-on costs diminish the benefit of the extra $6? Make a list of benefits of one job and a list of the same for the other job.

Consider the benefits or lack of benefits offered by your current job:
health insurance--- maternity leave, disability
medical or dental insurance
profit sharing---401k
flexible work hrs
socializing aspect---do you like working with others or if you do best working alone
If you are just working part time now an do not have the benefits of a full-time worker or if you work at Walmart and no benefits, I say take the telemarketing job.
But make sure you have another phone line or a cell phone to be contacted by others.
Another thing to consider is the hours that you work on the on the phone. It seems whenever I'm at the table eating dinner those darned telemarketers are calling. So make sure you don't have to upset your regular daily routine. Maybe your husband won't like it if you are on the phone when he is eating dinner alone.
Weigh the benefits of each job and I'm sure you will come to your own best decision.

I would not ever take a telemarketing job regardless of how much it claims to pay. I hate getting calls from people I don't know asking me to buy something that I never want. If I wanted it, I would find it and buy it. It wouldn't need to find me. I'm a nice guy. Imagine what kinds of reactions you will get from pissed off people you wake up or interrupt at meal times. It's not worth $6 bucks an hour more than my current salary to get cussed out by strangers on the phone on a regular basis.

no i personally wouldn't because i find telemarketers to be extremely annoying.
no 6 dollars more an hour could make me become...................one of them
p.s. sorry if you're already a telemarketer. i do realize that everyone has to make a living and telemarketing is a job like any other
p.p.s it's just more annoying than, say, being a dental assistant or something along those lines

I probably wouldn't because i am a professional with benefits, such as vacation, 401K, health care, and pension AND I love my job - in the space program. For me $6 more dollars wouldn't cut!
But if you don't have all these benefits or if you are in college or if you hate your job - definetly I would take it. It would help to know what you currently do, and how far from your job you are!

i know how rude i am to telemarketers and can only imagine what others are like. sure the money is better but i don't know how long i could take dealing with people like me. maybe you could do it part time and still keep your other job until you find out how you like it.

I think Telemarketing is tough.. They normally make it sound better than it is. Can you take verbal abuse all day long?? Find out more information before quitting your current job.

I wouldn't. I find this entire business disruptive and intrusive, and I know I am not the only one who feels this way. I believe people in that business are regularly treated very rudely by those they call. And frankly, I don't blame people for reacting that way.
